Make-up Work Checklist

When you are absent, it is your responsibility to gather your make-up work. To help you out, here is a checksheet for what to do the first day you get back to school.

Checksheet for make-up work

1. Obtain your "We Missed You Page" from your homeroom teacher. Note-Each homeroom teacher will have a different expectation about who fills it out and where they are kept. If you have any questions, see your homeroom teacher.

2. Make sure the page if filled out with ALL subject areas. Read through the we missed you page to see what happened in each class period and to double check that it has been completely filled out.

3. Check for any worksheets that should be attached to the page. If there was a worksheet needed or handed out that day, the papers should be attached to the we missed you page.

4. Ask Period Teacher for clarification on any assignment that is unclear to you. If you have any questions about your make-up work or if you do not have the worksheet, see that subject teacher before you leave for the day. It would be a good idea to double check with the subject teacher to see if the written down assignment is indeed correct and complete.

5. Take home "We Missed You Page" that night for parent signature. Make sure that your parents see, read, and sign the we missed you page so that if there are any questions, they may contact me for assistance or clarification. Bring it back the next day to turn in with signature.

6. Turn in make-up work on time to ensure there are no penalties for lateness. According to AISD policy, a student has one day for every day absent to make-up and turn in his/her work. That means if you are absent one day, they make-up work is due the second day you are back in attendance. If the work is not in, it will count off your Responsibility grade and hurt the academic grade depending on how late the assignment is.

7. Come in for tutorials afterschool for a mini-lesson on the concepts and/or get help on the make-up work. We do not know what you do or do not understand unless you tell us. If you are absent, it would be a good habit to get into to come afterschool for tutorials to get help and clarification, or a mini-lesson on the concept you missed the day(s) you were out.
